AL GREEN AT MEN ARENA 3rd November 2008
In Gigs
Archived: This event was in 2008.
Following his tour last year, the Reverend Al Green will arrive back in Manchester in November to convert another audience into worshipping soul music.
No-one sells soul music like Al Green. Since his celebrated album Let's Stay Together hit the charts in 1972 he has been widely regarded as one of the most influential artists in his genre with hits such as Take Me To The River and Tired Of Being Alone. A near death experience led him to strengthen his roots with gospel music and in 1976 he became a fully ordained gospel preacher. Since then he has continued to record and tour, picking up nine Grammy awards, a place on the Rolling Stone 100 Greatest Artists of All Time list and a Lifetime Achievement Award at the BET Awards this year.
This is a rare chance to see a truly original talent in action.
