Archived: This event was in 2010.
The story of 17 dancers fighting for a place in the chorus comes to The Lowry.
Set on a bare Broadway stage during the auditions for a new musical, A Chorus Line tells the story of a group of 17 dancers desperate to land a chorus role. The director wants to make sure he gets the right 8 dancers, so he asks his auditionees to introduce themselves and tell him why they became a dancer. The resulting stories cover everything from broken homes and homophobia to the power of 'tits and ass' as the dancers reveal the experiences and decisions that have shaped their lives.
The show picked up 9 Tony Awards in its opening year on Broadway and ended its debut season with a Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Since then it has become one of the longest-running Broadway shows in history and has played around the world. Now Pele Productions (the company behind the smash hit "Wizard of Oz" at The Lowry) are bringing the show to life for Manchester audiences.
With hit songs like What I Did For Love, I Can Do That, Dance: 10 Looks: 3, and the singularly sensational finale One, this show is a feelgood favourite. Get tickets now!
