Aisle 16 return to the Royal Exchange in Manchester

Following the success of their critically acclaimed show Poetry Boyband, hilarious award-winning poetry group Aisle 16 return to Manchester's Royal Exchange...

It's not often that you see the words 'hilarious' and 'poetry' in the same sentence, but then Aisle 16 aren't your average group of poets. Their first show, Powerpoint, was a sell-out success at the Edinburgh Festival in 2004 and was awarded the Time Out Critic's Choice and their follow-up show Poetry Boyband enjoyed five star reviews in the national media.

Their new show, Services to Poetry, is a tribute to Poet Laureate John Betjeman. In the 1930's Betjeman took a tour of England, using what he saw as the basis of what became some of the most important poems of the 20th century. To mark the 100-year anniversary of his birth, Aisle 16 stocked up on biros, filled up their clapped-out Ford Escort and set off on a tour of their own.

Instead of stopping off at picturesque villages and buzzing cities, they decided to delve straight into the heart of modern-day Britian - the motorway service station. The result is a riotous show full of odes to arcades, trucker's showers and naked long-distance drivers...
