The BBC's classic WWII comedy of French resistance against the Nazi occupation arrives for the festive period.
"Listen carefully, I shall say this only once", 'Allo 'Allo and its many catchphrases will be playing at The Lowry for almost a month of dates. The popular sitcom, which oddly found fun with a serious wartime subject ran from 1982 to 1992 for 85 episodes. A landmark occured in March when the show was sold to a German broadcaster for the first time, adding to the tally of over 50 nations in which the programme has already been broadcast. It returned to our screens in 2007 for a one-off special that was filmed in Manchester.
This is not the first time that it has been a stage production, as it was a touring show from 1986. Many of the original cast members will be returning, and include Gordon Kaye as hapless cafe owner Rene, whose amourous advances towards his sexy waitresses were frequently almost discovered by his long-suffering wife, originally played by Carmen Silvera but the actress passed away in 2002.
There will not be any shows on December 21st, 25th, 26th and 31st, or on January 1st.
