Amy Winehouse cancels Manchester date 12th December
In Gigs
Amy Winehouse has announced that she has cancelled the rest of her UK tour, including her Manchester Apollo gig on December 12th.
It appears that a combination of doctors' orders and emotional turmoil over the incarceration of Winehouse's husband Blake Fielder-Civil have led to the cancellation.
In a statement the singer says, “I can’t give it my all on stage without my Blake. I’m so sorry but I don’t want to do the shows half-heartedly. I love singing. My husband is everything to me and without him it’s just not the same.”
However, her record company say that Winehouse was ordered to cancel all forthcoming shows and take complete rest for the remainder of the year. "The rigours involved in touring and the intense emotional strain that Amy has been under in recent weeks have taken their toll," says their statement. "Amy has been ordered to take complete rest and deal with her health issues. Refunds will be issued from the point of purchase.”
Concern has been growing over the health of the singer during the last year. Despite the success of her second album Back To Black Winehouse's reputation has suffered after a string of cancelled dates, shambolic performances and allegations of drug addiction.
Her husband is currently facing charges for perveting the course of justice after he allegedly tried to bribe a barman into dropping charges against him following an attack.
To claim a refund on tickets, fans are advised to contact the point of sale directly.
