Bat For Lashes at Manchester Ritz 7th April

In Gigs

Archived: This event was in 2009.

Bar for Lashes

Bat For Lashes takes over the Ritz with her unique combination of edgy beats and ethereal lyrics.

Every so often, a leftfield act will float just below the radar of the mainstream for a couple of years before hitting the big time. Bat For Lashes sits comfortably in this niche. Musician Natasha Khan is often cited as the next big thing, with Brit nominations for Best British Breakthrough Act and Best British Female in 2008, despite having only released one album to date. She has toured with Radiohead and collaborated with M.I.A. and is often compared to Bjork, PJ Harvey and Tori Amos. But she still feels like something of a secret.

All this could change after her new album, Two Suns, hits the shelves on 6th April. Featuring collaborations with Yeasayer and Scott Walker, and inspired by locations like the Joshua Tree desert in California, New York City and the rolling Welsh countryside, Two Suns is a magical and intense album.

If you haven’t already discovered Bat For Lashes, we heartily recommend getting hold of a ticket for this Manchester show. Slated for the day after the release of her new album, the gig promises to be an outstanding introduction to new material from one of the UK’s most original contemporary artists.
