Braham Murray Launches Autobiography 13th September
In Literature
Archived: This event was in 2007.
At the age of 22, Braham Murray decided that his future lay not in commerce, as his parents hoped, but in the theatre. He took over Century Theatre, a theatre company in Manchester, and in doing so started out on a career path that would lead him to the Royal Exchange Theatre.
Backstage tantrums and onstage triumphs were just part of the job. But when the IRA detonated a bomb just 50 meters from the theatre, Murray would have to employ every ounce of his strength, humour and skill to keep his shell-shocked company together...
Murray’s autobiography, The Worst It Can Be Is A Disaster, offers a rare insight into the life of a director whose choices, leadership and abilities have made the Royal Exchange a world-renowned theatre. To celebrate the launch of The Worst It Can Be Is A Disaster, Murray will take to the stage to discuss his life and work with Lynda Walker, theatre critic for the Independent. There will also be a book signing following the event.
