The most successful artist in British chart history will play two Manchester dates in November.
Thinking back over British musical history, you may think that the most successful musical act in British history was The Beatles. Perhaps you believe the Rolling Stones were more successful. You may even go for Take That. But you would be wrong - in actual fact, the single most successful figure in British musical history is Sir Cliff Richard.
Beginning with his group The Shadows, Cliff Richard went on to launch a spectacularly successful solo career. Over the last sixty years, the singer has released more than 120 singles, albums and EPs into the charts, selling a quarter of a billion records. He is the only artist to appear in every decade of the UK chart since its inception in th 1950s, seamlessly travelling from rocker to pop star, sex symbol to Christian icon, boy-faced singer to music veteran. The sheer volume of awards, albums and accolades he has picked up (culminating in an OBE) is testament to a sterling ability to touch audiences.
Now the singer has announced that he will play two dates at the MEN Arena at the close of November, giving North West audiences the opportunity to see a living legend in action.
