Be the first to see previews from The Lowry's extraordinary dance company in residence, Company Chameleon.
The Lowry will host two preview performances from Company Chameleon this June, giving dance enthusiasts their first taste of the venue's new dance company in residence.
The previews will show two duets that explore questions of male identity. Before Night Fell, choreographed by award-winning choreographer Beth Cassani, uses concepts of physical risk, power and game structures to investigate themes of male friendship and camaraderie. Rites, choreographed by Company Chameleon itself, looks at the influence of peer pressure and coming of age to answer the question, “What does it mean to be a man?”
Formed in November 2007, Company Chameleon brings together two of the north west's most renowned contemporary dancers, Kevin Turner and Anthony Missen. The pair has worked with many of the UK's foremost dance companies, including Phoenix Dance Theatre and Scottish Dance Theatre. Throughout their residency until April 2010 they will explore the question of male identity further through Stride, a dance project for young men that has seen the creation of three youth dance companies across 60 male dancers.
These preview performances are a chance to see what could be a new leading force in British dance – don't miss out!
