Conor Oberst And The Mystic Valley Band - Manchester Academy2 28-08-08
In Gigs
The mercurial frontman of Bright Eyes plays an intimate show from his new solo album.
Conor Oberst is a hard man to keep up with. Over his career, the 28-year old musician has appeared in no less than seven bands: Commander Venus, Norman Bailer, The Faint, The Magnetas, Park Ave and Bright Eyes. Bright Eyes has been his most successful project to date after being championed by DJs such as Radio 1's Steve Lamacq and Jo Whiley. Often compared to a modern-day Bob Dylan, his poetic lyrics and distinctive voice have assured him a strong following among folk rock fans around the world.
His fans have recently been rejoicing at the news that he is to release a self-named solo album. This rare gig, running just before his appearance at the Reading and Leeds festivals, will give the audience a chance to hear his latest material with the backing of the Mystic Valley band.
