Danceworks 2009 at The Lowry 1st February

The hugely successful showcase of brand new regionally created dance makes its annual appearance at The Lowry.

Since its opening, The Lowry has set the bar for contemporary dance performance in Greater Manchester, hosting international companies such as The Rambert, The Kirov and English National Ballet.

However, its impact on the dance world does not stop with hosting the finest visiting companies. Once a year, The Lowry teams up with dance organisation Dance Initiative Greater Manchester (DIGM) to host Danceworks, a showcase of the best new dance being created by community groups in the Greater Manchester area.

Danceworks incorporates many different styles of dance, from jazz to jive, street dance to Irish dance and contemporary to capoeira, brought to audiences by the following groups:

• Roundthorn Community Primary School, Oldham
• Frantic Youth Dance, Rochdale

• Dynamite Dance Academy, Tameside
• Trafford Waterside, Trafford
• Wigan & Leigh Youth Dance, Wigan
• Konnect 2, Wigan
