Dave Gorman brings Sit Down, Pedal, Pedal, Stop and Stand Up to town.
Dave Gorman's career so far has taken in some bizarre experiences. He started out as a stand-up comic but quickly moved away from telling jokes to create a whole new genre of comedy, in which he tells the true stories of his latest adventures. He has travelled the world trying to track down fifty-four people with the same name as him to win a drunken bet with his flatmate Danny Wallace (Are You Dave Gorman), singing the National Anthem backwards with three books balanced on his head, a tangerine in one hand and a bowl of cereal in the other while standing on one leg in Covent Garden because his horoscope told him to (Dave Gorman's Important Astrology Experiment) and spending the entire advance for his novel on travelling the world to meet the people who had authored various Googlewhacks, ending up having to spend three years touring the resulting show across the UK, Canada, Australia and the States to pay his publisher back.
At the end of this mammoth tour, Gorman was a stone and a half underweight, had a nodule on his throat and no desire to play live anytime soon. He didn't have any crazy experiences to turn into another documentary comedy, anyway. He was ready for a break. But then, slowly, he found himself slipping out to tiny little clubs in London to do straight stand-up gigs again.
Now, five years since he last did stand-up, he is returning to the stage with a brand new, full length show. Sit Down, Pedal, Pedal, Stop and Stand Up is a classic show of the 'one-man-and-his-mic' variety. But, this being Dave Gorman, there's a bit of a twist - the tour will see Gorman travel the length and breadth of the country from its northernmost tip to its southernmost point, taking in the most easterly and westerly points along the way, over 32 nights. Oh, and he's travelling the entire 1500 miles on his pushbike. Well, nobody expected the show to be normal...
