Edward Scissorhands at The Lowry 18th to 22nd November 2008
In Dance
Matthew Bourne’s iconic ballet returns to The Lowry.
Matthew Bourne’s place among the most exciting choreographers of our time may have been heralded with his all male Swan Lake, but it was cemented with his ballet of Edward Scissorhands.
Based on the film by Tim Burton, the ballet tells the story of a boy created by a lonely inventor. Left with scissors for hands when his creator suddenly dies, Edward tries to find a place in modern suburbia and win the love of a beautiful girl. But can he ever be accepted in a society repelled by anyone who is different?
Matthew Bourne’s take on this beautiful and poignant story contains some of the most extraordinary choreography performed today and is set to music by Danny Elfman and Terry Davies. It received rave reviews after its premiere and continues to delight both critics and audiences alike as it tours the world.

Brilliant

Went to see this ballet Tuesday 18th. It is well worth going to see it i thought it was absolutley brilliant. I knew the storyline but my mother had never seen the film so was totally in the dark and she thought it was fantastic. The storylines comes across very well. A standing ovation at the end shows how good it was.
