The first lady of the British musical celebrates forty years of the West End.
Elaine Paige is one of the most important figures in the world of British musical theatre. After making her West End debut in Hair, she caught the eye of a casting agent who put her forward for the role of Eva Peron in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s brand new musical, Evita. Her performance was a triumph, setting the bar for one of the biggest female roles in musical theatre. She went on to create many other leading characters, most notably Grizabella in Cats, whose song Memory has become Paige’s biggest showpiece.
Elaine Paige has appeared in many of the biggest musicals across the West End and Broadway during her career, including Jesus Christ Superstar, Nuts, Grease, Billy, Chess, Sweeney Todd and Sunset Boulevard. She has released twenty solo albums, of which eight are gold and four are multi-platinum, as well as seven cast albums and had a number one hit with I Know Him So Well, a duet with fellow actor Barbara Dickson.
To celebrate her fortieth anniversary Elaine Paige will take audiences on a journey through some of the biggest roles of her remarkable career.
