Elbow At Manchester Apollo 23rd October
In Gigs
The Bury-based band return to Manchester to celebrate the success of their latest album, The Seldom Seen Kid.
In an industry where careers are forged on the back of one four-minute tune, Bury-based group Elbow (led by Guy Garvey) are something of an anomaly. They have stayed consistently under the radar for most of their career as a group despite a pedigree that most other bands can only dream of. They are, for example, the only band to have had four consecutive 9/10 reviews in NME. They are the first English band to have toured Cuba. They became an internet sensation when their Destiny's Child cover for Radio 1's Live Lounge was turned into an animation starring a bunch of kittens in flat caps. However, despite all these things commercial success seems to have eluded them. Thankfully, this looks set to change with the success of their latest album, The Seldom Seen Kid. Suddenly Elbow have become hot property, with appearances across primetime TV and chart success with first single "Grounds for Divorce".
Now returning to their own stomping ground with a jubilant, triumphant tour, there has never been a better time to find out what all the fuss is about.
