Fron Male Voice Choir at Manchester Cathedral 15th December
In Concerts
The Welsh choir return to Manchester following a sell-out concert at Bridgewater Hall as part of Help the Aged's A Star For Christmas event.
'The oldest boy band in the world' rose to fame after Daniel Glatman, former manager of Blue, heard them perform at a wedding. Since then the choir have recorded two albums - Voices from the Valley, which reached #9 in the UK album charts, and Voices from the Valley Encore which entered the charts at #11 this week.
Now the choir will return to Manchester following their sell-out concert at the Bridgewater Hall last year in a bid to raise money for Help the Aged. The A Star for Christmas event will see the choir perform Christmas carols and other seasonal favourites at Manchester Cathedral.
The event aims to raise money that will be spent on combatting the poverty, isolation and neglect experienced by many of the UK's disadvantaged older people. Choir member Dennis Williams, says “We are often referred to as the oldest boy band in the world, so I guess it is fitting we choose to support this particular charity! On a more serious note though, as a group we are delighted that we will be helping to raise funds for disadvantaged older people this Christmas.”
Dennis continues: “This is especially true as money raised from A Star for Christmas will go towards Help the Aged services, including those aimed at directly tackling isolation, a tragic situation far too many older people find themselves in nowadays."
