The intoxicating rhythms of Cuban dance and music will raise the roof in May.
The Cuban company Congas Production’s present their first UK tour of Havana Rakatan at The Lowry.
The Lowry’s Terrace Bar are embracing the Cuban spirit with free salsa dancing and two for one on Cuba Libre after the show on Thu 8 May.
From the sultry rumba to the slick footwork of the cha-cha-cha, fourteen dancers perform a captivating and colourful display of Cuba’s many vibrant dance forms. Set to live music by renowned Cuban-based son band Turquino, together with sensational vocalist Geydi Chapman.
Choreographer Nilda Guerra and her company present a stunning slice of life Havana-style, with all the passion and exuberance of a country famous for its rich music and dance heritage.
Havana Rakatan transports the audience to crowded slums and colourful streets filled with the flamenco, yoruba and Afro-Haitian rhythms as well as jazz, mambo, bolero, and the modern forms of salsa.
