Innit: The Urban Musical at The Lowry 27th to 31st January

Mickey Dack’s autobiographical play about a life of crime in Salford returns to The Lowry.
When Mickey Dacks was nine, he set fire to his local shop – with the shopkeep still inside. By the time he was a teenager he had been expelled for school for dealing drugs and was living on the streets of London and by the time he was 20 he had ended up in prison. But after getting out of prison he was determined to turn away from his past and began to channel his energies into writing.
Seven years later, his play Innit: The Urban Musical premiered at The Lowry’s Studio Theatre. The cautionary tale of Ashley, who is determined to go straight after he gets out of prison, draws heavily on his experiences. Funny, sharp and brutal, it depicts life in Salford with Northern humour and honesty.
Innit Productions continues to work with young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and seven of the cast members were discovered through an open casting session at The Lowry throughout November.
