Kneehigh Theatre bring Rapunzel to The Lowry 29th January to 2nd February
In Theatre
With their distinctive combination of theatre, movement, puppets and projections, Kneehigh Theatre's adaptation of the classic fairytale will delight children and adults alike.
Kneehigh, one of the UK's best-loved theatre companies, arrive fresh from their triumphant production of Brief Encounter at Leeds' West Yorkshire Playhouse to breathe new life into the story of Rapunzel in a collaboration with Battersea Arts Centre.
The story is set in Italy in a time when life is harsh and the angry sun burns down on the parched earth. A desperate father whispers gently to his baby daughter ‘I will never forget you. I love you’ and leaves her under a Rapunzel plant.
Rapunzel grows up to be a fierce, funny and brave heroine determined to fight for her independence, whilst her handsome and good-hearted prince has to find hidden depths to win his one true love.
Told through Kneehigh's signature combination of puppetry, movement, multimedia and theatre, this is an entrancing production that will be appreciated by children and adults alike.
