Knots at The Lowry 22nd to 23rd November

Commended by critics as "completely seductive" and "the most impressively staged physical theatre around", CoisCeim is one of Ireland's leading dance theatres. Now the company is bringing their multi-award winning production Knots to The Lowry.

The show sees six couples in wedding finery, ready to 'tie the knot' before the romantic ideal explodes in a series of vignettes exploring the maelstrom of emotions that arise when you seek to entangle your life and body with someone else's.

Juxtaposing the insightful text of Scottish psychoanalyst R.D. Laing with Liam Steel's physically and emotionally demanding choreography, Knots sees tap dancing turned into an act of aggression, potential partners judged like dogs at Crufts and ballet and street dance fused with therapy sessions.

Since taking on the role of choreographer, Liam Steel has taken CoisCeim into new territory, both physically and emotionally, and Knots is widely regarded as one of his best productions. The show has already won Best Production at the Dublin Fringe Festival and picked up a Scotsman Fringe First at the 2006 Edinburgh Festival, and cements CoisCeim's place as Ireland's leading dance theatre company.
