Little Boots at Manchester Night and Day 7th March
In Gigs
Archived: This event was in 2009.
She’s been dubbed ‘the future of British pop’ after only one single. What is it that makes Little Boots so exciting?
Little Boots, aka Blackpool-born Victoria Hesketh, is on the cusp of something big. She has been hailed as the sound of 2009 by everyone from The Times to the BBC. Jools Holland booked her, Joe Goddard (the producer behind Hot Chip) volunteered to work on her first album and the Brits short-listed her for the Critics Choice Award. But Little Boots has only put out one single. What is it about her that has got everyone so excited?
To get an idea of the singer behind the hype, we suggest you check out YouTube. Like Kate Nash and Lily Allen before her, Little Boots is all about interactive social media. Fans are invited to email her through her blog and suggest a song that they would like her to cover and each week she posts a grainy video of the cover up on YouTube for all to see.
It is all very well watching ‘the future of British pop’ record home-grown covers of Bowie, Planet Perfecto, Cyndi Lauper and the like. But as for what will be on her first album? Only those who get tickets to this gig will know. If you’ve ever dreamt of catching the next big thing before they became famous, here is your chance.
