Feelgood Theatre Productions bring a heart-stopping promenade performance of Macbeth to Heaton Park this summer.
This summer, Heaton Park will play host to a thrilling interpretation of Macbeth, created by Manchester's Feelgood Theatre Productions. Beginning with the sound of drums to draw you into the woods, this promenade performance travels across the park as you follow Macbeth's descent into madness.
This unique interpretation of Macbeth sees Feelgood Theatre Productions working with Theatre Under Fire, an internationally renowned company formed by actors who have had to flee their native Zimbabwe under the regime of Robert Mugabe. The production draws on the parallels between Macbeth and the current political situation in Zinbabwe, fusing Shakespeare's text with a capella singing, dance and drumming.
Feelgood Theatre Productions has built up a reputation over the last 15 years for creating innovative and outstanding site-specific performances. Director Caroline Clegg was awarded the MEN Horniman Award in 2008 for her outstanding contribution to live theatre in Manchester. The partnership with Theatre Under Fire, who won the Afro-Brit Community Award for Outstanding Contribution to Arts and Culture in 2008, promises to present you with a cross-cultural spectacle that will stay with you long after the final words are spoken.
