The undisputed queen of pop brings her Sticky and Sweet tour to Manchester.
When tickets went on sale for the Manchester leg of Madonna’s Sticky and Sweet tour they sold out in minutes, prompting the promoters to announce another date on 8th July. It is no wonder that the show sold out – having already toured for several months, Sticky and Sweet has become one of the most popular tours of all time selling out many of the world’s biggest venues.
The show is a spectacular combination of music, dance, theatrics and fashion themed into four parts - Pimp, Old School, Gypsy and Rave – covering inspirations ranging from gangsta rap to Romanian folk dance.
Hardcore fans will be excited to hear that much of the two-hour blockbuster is devoted to the tracks that cemented Madonna’s position as the most popular female artist of all time, including Vogue, Material Girl, La Isla Bonita, Like A Virgin, and Like a Prayer. However, there is plenty for newer fans to get excited about too, from Ray Of Light, the track that practically relaunched her career after the quieter years of the early 1990s, through to 4 Minutes and Give It To Me.
There is plenty of support from stars such as Justin Timberlake, Timbaland, Pharell and Britney Spears. Though they all appear in virtual duets, the really exciting moments have been when they have made surprise appearances at various venues throughout the tour.
With big-budget sets including a boxing ring and a waterfall, costumes by Givenchy and Moschino and an incredible performance by the world’s biggest pop star, this tour is a definite must-see.
