Manchester Poetry Prize Gala RNCM 16th October 2008
In Literature
Join the literati at the Royal Northern College of Music as the winners of the inaugural Manchester Poetry Prize are announced at Manchester Literature Festival’s most glittering event.
The Manchester Poetry Prize is the biggest poetry prize in the country. Launched by Manchester Metropolitan University last year, the winner of this prestigious award will walk away with £10,000, while one writer aged between 18-25 will be awarded the Manchester Young Writer of the Year prize of a bursary to study at MMU’s Writing School. The competition was open to all writers, with the only caveat that the poems must not have been published elsewhere.
The Manchester Poetry Prize Gala will see the winners read their winning poems alongside readings from judges Carol Ann Duffy (Rapture), Gillian Clarke (Making Beds for the Dead) and Imtiaz Dharker (The Terrorist at my Table).
