Manu Chao at Manchester Apollo 8th October

The legendary  world music musician will play in Manchester in October.

Following the release of his new album La Radiolina, his first in six years, Manu Chao is to play a rare gig in Manchester. The musician has received critical acclaim and won legions of fans with his genre-breaking mix of reggae, post-punk, Afropop, Latin and other global musics since his solo debut Clandestino in 1998.

Chao first made an impact on the global music stage as the lead singer of anarchic, genre-bending French band Mano Negra. After several albums, the band split  in 1995 and Chao went around the world, gathering inspiration for Clandestino. That proved to be a stroke of genius, helping him create an album which clocked up over five million sales and earned him a place in French musical history as one of the biggest sellers of all time. His follow-up album Proxima Estacion: Esperanza (Next Station: Hope) stayed in the #1 spot in Europ's Top 100 Albums for several weeks.
