Manchester's biggest band announce two spectacular dates at Heaton Park on 6th and 7th June 2009.
Though Manchester has a long and varied musical history and still dines out on the halcyon days of the Hacienda, there is no contest when it comes to their biggest offspring. Oasis swaggered onto the scene in the early 90's with the songs Live Forever and Cigarettes and Alcohol and since then have sold over 50 million albums around the world.
But their significance doesn't end with their phenomenal sales, nor with the 32 awards they have picked up to date. They spearheaded the Britpop scene which saw the resurgence of British rock music around the world, and have influenced a whole generation of bands topping the charts today.
Now they have announced that they will play two massive dates in Manchester as part of their upcoming stadium tour. The band will take over Heaton Park on 6th and 7th June, with tickets on sale from 10am this Friday. With years since their last big shows in their hometown there is no doubt over whether they will sell out - the only question is will you manage to get tickets before they go.
Update: A new date on 4th June has been added due to high demand.
