Opera North bring The Adventures of Pinocchio to The Lowry 15th to 16th February

The classic tale of the puppet who longs to be a 'real boy' is reinvigorated by this newly commissioned family opera.

When the carpenter Geppetto creates a puppet out of a block of wood, little does he realise that his dreams for a child of his own are about to be answered. But Pinocchio has a dream of his own: he wants to be a real boy. He is told that the way to make his dream come true is to listen and learn - but he just can't seem to stay out of trouble...

In an age where newly commissioned operas are rare, Jonathan Dove's retelling of the classic tale deserves praise for inventiveness alone. From the staging to the delightful libretto, there is more than enough to keep adults as entranced as their children in this truly unmissable show.
