Primal Scream has been confirmed as the headlining act on this year's NME Rock N Roll Riot Tour.
Over the last sixteen years, Primal Scream has been through it all. Their 1991 album Screamadelica is now a staple of Best Album lists and television shows, capturing the euphoria of the early days of acid house and rave culture and combining that with a heavy dose of the rock that defined their earlier sound. The success heralded in a period of drug taking and bust-ups which nearly split the band, but they kept it together and are now celebrating the release of their ninth studio album, Beautiful Future.
Described as a return to their rock roots, Beautiful Future charted in the UK Top Ten on its release following a smash appearance from the band at this year's T in the Park festival. They are now beginning preparations for their headlining appearance on this year’s NME Rock N Roll Riot Tour, which has previously kickstarted the careers of bands such as Kaiser Chiefs, Razorlight and The Enemy. Front man Bobby Gillespie says, "We're so happy to be doing this tour because we can rock and we can have a riot. Right now we're playing better than ever, we're having a great time, we're having a ball. When people come to the show they're really gonna get their money's worth!"
