Madama Butterfly is showing at the Opera House and is being performed by the Ukrainian National Opera of Odessa.
This spectacular traditional production from one of the loveliest opera houses in Europe comes complete with an international cast of Korean and Japanese sopranos, a highly-praised chorus and a full orchestra.
It was awarded Opera of the Year award by the Liverpool Daily Post in 2006, and Madama Butterfly returns with devine sets including a spectacular Japanese garden and sumptuous costumes including antique wedding kilmonos from Japan.
One of the world’s most popular operas, Puccini’s Madama Butterfly tells the heart-breaking story of a beautiful, young Japanese girl who falls in love with an American naval lieutenant – with dramatic results. Highlights include the moving aria One Fine Day, the melodic Humming Chorus and the unforgettable Love Duet.
Madama Butterfly is sung in Italian with English subtitles and has a duration of approximately 2 hours 36 mins.
