Razorlight At Manchester Apollo 20th November 2008
In Gigs
The UK’s answer to The Strokes plays an intimate show at Manchester Apollo.
With an indie pedigree that has linked him with bands such as The Libertines and Queens of Noize, it is no wonder that Johnny Borrell has gone on to lead one of the best indie bands of this decade.
Razorlight first broke through into the mainstream in 2003 with the single Rip It Up. Already a favourite track on alternative radio stations like Xfm, the song paved the way for Golden Touch, one of the defining songs of 2004, and its follow-up Somewhere Else. By the time their second album, the self-titled Razorlight, hit stores their fanbase were ready to go crazy. The album went four times platinum and earned them two top ten hits with In The Morning and America.
Their third album, Slipaway Fires, is eagerly awaited by fans and critics alike. The lead single, Wire to Wire, is a more sedate and emotional tune from the band, heralding a more mature sound. However, fans can be assured that the live shows will still be characterized by Borrell’s swaggering, arrogant charisma and a raucous crowd.
