Review XFM Winter Wonderland Manchester Apollo 11th December

Reviewer Kelly Murray gives her verdict on XFM's biggst Christmas event, Winter Wonderland.

Last year's XFM Winter Wonderland, featuring Manic Street Preachers, Badly Drawn Boy and Magic Numbers, was one of the festive season's biggest events. This year's offering of Charlatans, The Cribs, Starsailor, Stephen Fretwell, The Courteeners and Ting Tings was set to be another big concert in aid of raising money for the homeless charity Shelter - but could it follow up on the success of last year's party? We sent reviewer Kelly Murray to find out.

"At the latest event from XFM Manchester, the set on everyone’s lips was that of Salford two-piece The Ting Tings. They may be a tiny army, but with Katie White’s riot grrrl attitude and faultless drummer Jules in tow, they managed capture a fun and personal atmosphere in the big venue. Break through single ‘That’s not my Name’ is still one of the most effective floor fillers this year..."
