Rob Brydon at Manchester Opera House 17th September
In Comedy
Archived: This event was in 2009.
Manchester audiences get a second chance to see Rob Brydon as his stand up show returns to the city.
Rob Brydon may be the funniest Welsh man in comedy at the moment. The comic made his name on the self-penned show Marion and Geoff before going on to cement his fame as Uncle Bryn in Gavin and Stacey, BBC's smash hit sitcom. Along the way he seems to have appeared in every influential British comedy of the last decade from sitcom I'm Alan Partridge to Shaun of the Dead.
But Brydon has always stayed faithful to his roots as a stand-up comic and has now embarked on a massive UK tour. The show is something of a departure for the comic. After years of performing as Keith Barret, the hapless taxi-driver whose messy divorce was the focus of Marion and Geoff, this show sees Brydon finally take the stage as himself.
But all the other Brydon traits are still in evidence, from his unique take on the joys of being Welsh through to his virtuoso storytelling (watch out for tales of the birth of his fourth child) and talent for spot-on impressions of everyone from Tom Jones to Ronnie Corbett. Previous shows have even seen surprise appearances from Gavin and Stacey co-star Ruth Jones for a reprise of their #1 single Islands In The Stream.
A year after setting out on tour, Rob Brydon Live is still pulling in the crowds. If you missed his appearance at the Palace Theatre this March, this could be your last chance to see a man the Observer has named as one of the 50 funniest comics. Get tickets now!
