Following on from the success of her previous one-woman show Curry Tales, Rani Moorthy explores issues of skin colour, beauty and identity in her new show Shades Of Brown.
Taking as her basis the idea that women around the world spend thousands of pounds and hours bleaching or tanning their skin, Moorthy presents four women with different attitudes to their skin to explore the question of whether one person's healthy glow can be another's social stigma. The show touches on questions of politics, science, sociology and family relationships in a wide-ranging and moving production.
This is the second one-woman show written and performed by Moorthy and directed by Linda Marlowe. Its predecessor, Curry Tales, was highly praised by critics and became one of the UK's most toured Asian theatre shows.
Tickets are available from the Library Theatre website.
