The dark lords of Nu-Metal announce a Manchester date on the All Hope Is Gone tour.
When Slipknot's self-titled debut album hit the desks of magazines such as NME and Allmusic, rock journalists declared a new genre of music had been born. Nu-metal was harder, heavier and dirtier than anything that had come before, and within a year Slipknot had been certified platinum. As the success of their first album continued to grow (eventually hitting double platinum), their two next albums Iowa and Volume 3 confirmed their place as a hugely successful and influential band. This was recently celebrated by Kerrang! magazine, who awarded the band a Kerrang! Icon Award - only the third time the award has been given in its history.
Not only do Slipknot have an instantly recognisable sound, but they also have a unique stage presence. They consistently appear in jumpsuits and chilling masks that draw from horror film iconography that give their stage shows a nightmarish quality.
The news of their European tour is sure to excite British fans who were disappointed when they recently had to cancel their UK festival appearances after band member Joey Jordison broke his ankle. The December dates are now the first chance UK fans will have to see material from their new album played live.
