Manchester Art Gallery hosts a rare exhibition of da Vinci drawings from the Royal Collection.
The Royal Collection is the Royal Family’s private collection of artworks and contains the most important collection of drawings by Leonardo da Vinci. In celebration of HRH Prince Charles’ 60th birthday, ten drawings from the collection will be on show at Manchester Art Gallery for two months.
The ten drawings have been carefully curated to demonstrate the scope of da Vinci’s interests across painting, sculpture and architecture. The pieces not only demonstrate the combination of passion and precision that marks out da Vinci’s work but also shows his talents across a range of media including metal point, pen and ink, brush and ink, watercolours and chalks.
Contrast abounds across the exhibition, presenting a fascinating glimpse into one of the greatest minds of all time.
