The Script at Manchester Academy 26th November 2008
In Gigs
Archived: This event was in 2008.
When a new band manages to secure the #1 spot in the UK album charts on the back of just two singles, it is a sure sign that they have managed to tap into the sound of the moment.
And The Script have done exactly that. They describe their sound as Celtic soul. Their songs sit somewhere between boyband and indie, something like Maroon 5 with perhaps a sprinkling of James Morrison or Paulo Nutini, telling lyrical stories of break-ups and goodbyes.
After dominating the charts with singles We Cry and The Man Who Can’t Be Moved, quickly followed by taking the #1 spot with their self-titled album, 2008 is clearly the band’s year. Their UK tour is selling quickly, with the London date selling out in just two hours. With rumours of American breakthroughs on the way and near-constant radio play, this band are going to be massive – catch them while you can.
