The Ting Tings add an extra tour date in Manchester
To hear the hype, you might imagine that Jules de Martino and Katie Hill grew up in an achingly cool district of New York, studied at some outlandish art school in Iceland and then sauntered out onto the scene armed with a bagful of tunes bestowed on them by God.
Actually, the pair come from Salford. Yes, Salford. They first started writing tunes together when Katie had just left school and had moderate success with early band Dear Eskimo before that bit the dust. After that they honed their own brand of pop between shifts behind the bar at Islington Mill.
Their sound is poppy and edgy, with the energy of Le Tigre and the style of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and since they hit the big time with Great DJ and That's Not My Name, they've become Manchester's hottest protégés. Due to overwhelming demand they have now added an extra date to what is sure to be a sold-out tour. Grab tickets while you can.
