The Indian interpretation of Shakespeare's classic is theatre at its best.
Few of Shakespeare's plays have been reimagined as many different ways as A Midsummer Night's Dream. One of the most enduringly popular plays of all time, this story of love and magic continues to captivate audiences around the world.
Tim Supple's interpretation opened to rapturous reviews from theatre critics, who called it 'theatre to lose your heart to'. Created in India and featuring actors, dancers, martial arts experts, musicians and street actors from around India and Sri Lanka, Supple's production is the culmination of a project which began in 2004 as a result of a commission from the British Council in India and Sri Lanka.
The production is performed in a combination of English, Tamil, Malayalam, Sinhalese, Hindi, Bengali, Marathi and even Sanskrit, and the result is a passionate, energetic, thrillina and beautiful interpretation that features the visual spectacle associated with Indian theatre.
