WAGS, fashionistas, designers and serious label shoppers should head to Urbis on 4-7 October when it hosts the fashion event of the year – Fashion Weekend – to be held for the first time outside London.
Vaughan Allen, Chief Executive of Urbis said "Urbis is delighted to be bringing Fashion Weekend to Manchester. As Manchester's main centre focusing on the creative industries, and the best of contemporary popular culture, fashion has always been key to what we do. Manchester and the North-West have a burgeoning fashion culture, in terms of designers and producers and of course, an extremely strong consumer base. The fact that Urbis has been chosen to be the main venue for this event demonstrates the strength and success of the local fashion networks which Urbis is proud to support and encourage."
Regularly cited as being at the cutting-edge of urban design, Urbis flaunts its fashion credentials during Fashion Weekend Manchester, in association with celebrity fashion bible Grazia, offering an exclusive designer shopping and beauty experience, hot on the (teeteringly high) heels of London Fashion Week.
Vaughan Allen continued:
“Manchester has long had a history of innovation within the field of fashion, from its Cottonopolis roots to becoming a recognised fashion capital, featuring everything from high street to haute couture. It’s fantastic to be part of the next chapter with such glamorous new events as Fashion Weekend Manchester. Enthusiatic fashionistas can also look forward to the highlight of our Spring programme next year, a retrospective solo show by Manchester born designer Matthew Williamson, who will be celebrating ten years of work in the industry.”
During Manchester Fashion Weekend for 4 days, all five floors of the exhibition centre will become home to the creations of over 100 swoon-worthy designer collections including Ben De Lisi, Betty Jackson, Paul & Joe, Emporio Made in Italy (incorporating Yojhi Yamamoto, Armani, Ferré, Valentino, Vivienne Westwood and Gucci) as well as well-loved Manchester favourites Juicy Couture, Rags to Bitches, Oliver Goddard and Vicky Martin, all at fabulously reduced prices.
Apart from the opportunity to pick up some great designer fashion, Fashion Weekend Manchester will also be a make-up and beauty haven with hair and make-up master-classes running throughout the four days. Experts will be on hand to offer advice on current make-up and beauty trends as well as make-overs and demonstrations.
There will also be a catwalk show taking place hourly on the 3rd floor of Urbis, which will showcase the best in current trends and nod towards Femme Fatale.
