Oldham Choral Society perform Verdi's requiem with world-class soloists Iain Patterson, Rita Cullis, Katherine Wilkinson and Peter Hoare.
When Brahms first heard Verdi's Requiem, he said that only a genius could have written it. Though by that time Verdi has already written the great operas Aida, Rigoletto, Il Trovatori and Don Carlos, the Requiem saw him reach new heights of composition.
Now this much-loved piece is to be performed by Oldham Choral Society, one of the leading amateur choirs in the UK. Established in 1883, Oldham Choral now has over 100 members, many of whom perform at international festivals individually.
For this performance, the choir is joined by soloists Iain Patterson, Rita Cullis, Katherine Wilkinson and Peter Hoare, each of whom has a strong international reputation.
