Versus Cancer 2008 at MEN Arena 23rd February

Building on the success of Versus Cancer 2006 and 2007, Andy Rourke promises that the 2008 event will be even more exciting.

The ex-Smiths bassist says, "This year's gig is going to be talked about for years to come. We've got some of the biggest bands of the moment lined up as well as some legendary acts that haven't performed live for a long time."

Versus Cancer has a reputation for bringing together living legends and new talent in unique, one-off performances and collaborations  to raise money for people whose lives have been affected by cancer.

Highlights of last year's show included an acoustic set from Noel Gallagher, collaborations between Paul Weller and The Charlatans, appearances from Echo and the Bunnymen and Ian Brown, and a stunning finale which saw a partial Stone Roses reunion for a roaring rendition of I Am The Resurrection. The concert raised over quarter of a million pounds for cancer organisations and charities.
